Delirium

A clouding of consciousness with fading in and out of clear perception of reality is know as delirium and may be due to drug abuse, head trauma or a serious physical illness. In the elderly this is sometimes hard to distinguish from and may coexist with dementia. At any age delirium requires prompt medical attention to avoid possible death or serious complications.
